Marine algae have gained substantial attention from various scientific and commercial fields. The reason behind its importance is due to the rich source of bioactive compounds like proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, other pigments. algae-derived carrageenans polysaccharides are used in food, medicine, cosmetic items, gelling, emulsifying, stabilizing agents. carrageenan has also photoprotective activity as it protects against UVB-induced apoptosis HaCaT cells inhibits skin aging cancers. macromolecules including proteins anticoagulant activities. marine health sector not limited a food supplement only, rather, derivatives increasingly biomedical application too. Different biological activities immunomodulatory, anti-tumor, anti-viral, anti-cancer, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic discussed this review.
